The JMap Geocoding Extension allows users to determine the
location of a building corresponding to a postal address, or to determine
which postal address corresponds to a point clicked on the display.
Geocoding is one of the cornerstones of mapping systems: it represents
the link between the billions of postal addresses that match residential,
industrial and commercial buildings and their representation on a map.
The online geocoding engine allows users to type an
address and to find its location on a map.
The online geocoding engine has the following
characteristics:
-
Street, ZIP code, city, state/province, and country
information,
-
Phonetic research on street and city names,
-
Choice of display on the middle of the segment or on a
precise location on the segment.
The inverse geocoding engine comprises the following
features:
-
Choice of attributes to display in point's tooltip,
-
Maximum distance from point to street for postal
address display,
-
Maximum distance from point to intersection for
intersection display.
This
engine allows an organization to launch a batch procedure that geocodes a
large amount of addresses at once and creates the set of points
corresponding to these addresses. An online wizard helps the user manage the
various conflicts due to ambiguities or more than one address. This wizard
classifies the list of potential address according to an optimal matching
criterion.
